Tell Congress to Protect Emergency Air Medical Services

Posted By Monica J. Newman, Wednesday, June 29, 2022

The SOAR Campaign is hearing reports of insurance companies withholding and delaying claims to air medical providers; significantly underpaying for service or simply not paying at all; and sometimes refusing to respond to providers. This bad behavior has already resulted in the closure of an air medical base and threatens many more across the country.

Tell Congress to Protect Emergency Air Medical Services and prevent insurer bad behavior and allow air medical providers to continue to serve rural America.

From,

The SOAR Campaign

The legislation which updates Medicare reimbursement for emergency air medical services, is finally here. It was introduced by Rep. Jackie Walorski. Here is Walorski’s press release with more info on the bill, and here is SOAR’s statement of support.  AAMS also supports this legislation saying, the bill will introduce transparency into the costs of providing air medical transport, increase quality by providing enhanced incentives for high-performance services, and, most importantly, preserve the long-term sustainability of air medical transport services for the millions of Americans who rely on us as their sole means to access healthcare.
